Welcome 4B Families!

This website is dedicated to providing information about fourth grade at Villa.  You will also be able to access news specific to the 4B class.  Newsletters will be available twice a month and you can view photos of our class engaged in all kinds of learning activities and fun.

Fourth grade is a transitional year.  The primary years have ended and students are entering a new level of academic and social expectations.  During the fourth grade year, we will be working to instill a sense of personal responsibility in our students and expect them to begin taking responsibility of their own learning.  This can take the form of getting assignments done by themselves, being organized, planning ahead to complete assignments on time and owning up to mistakes.  You can help by “letting go” just a little more this year and allowing your child to make his or her own mistakes.

I have been teaching at Villa Academy since 2010 and I am so happy to be here.  I am a National Board Certified Teacher  in Middle Childhood Education and was honored as a 2015 National Geographic Grosvenor Teacher Fellow. I am passionate about education and love coming to work each day.

Before Villa Academy I taught kindergarten and third grade at the French American School of Puget Sound on Mercer Island.  Besides teaching in the classroom I have worked in outdoor education with Passages Northwest and worked as a ski instructor at Steven’s Pass for several seasons.

I love traveling, learning languages, reading books, making soup, rock climbing, camping and taking my dog, Sasha for long walks.
